Upcoming Game Releases | January 2017

It has occurred to me in the past that I have no idea what games are coming out most months. It is time to rectify that and bring you all with me into the future! Near the beginning of every month I’m going to list out the upcoming games (generally in order) with a video and perhaps some of my thoughts on them if I have any. As a caveat I’m usually not going to include ports. Unless I start having more free time, then I probably will.

Rico’s Games of the Year (2016)

I generally feel like there is some level of pressure to have surprises on a GOTY list. I’m gonna be flat out with you, you won’t be finding any of those today (I imagine). The structure will be pretty simple, first I’m listing all the games I played this year. It’s not super diverse in 2016 but there are a fair number of games on this list that I really enjoyed. The ones I didn’t like I at least appreciated on some level. Which, who knows, maybe I’ll write ab...

Gamemaniac3434’s GOTY list

Ah yes, another year passes by. Gonna be honest-in regards to politics, celebrities dying and random other stuff I’m sure, it’s been a kind of shitty year. In regards to games however, it’s been quite a good year! It’s been a year of D’s and surprises, with games that I wanted being somewhat disappointing and games I didn’t really have interest in kicking all sorts of ass. Here I will put my thoughts to paper, and sum it all up. Also its probably obvious, but if it’s not, this is for games I pla...

Dishonored 2 Review

It was as I beat Dishonored 2 that the full weight of how similar this games storyline is to the previous game hit me. As the final target was taken care of, I was left with a thought that hadn’t really coalesced until this point-“It took four years to make this game and we couldn’t get a new story?” I’m not the first one to voice that thought, but honestly it’s one I had pushed out until the final target was taken care of and the games credits rolled. There’s some good stuff in this game, enoug...

Shovel Knight Review: Strike the Earth!

What is Shovel Knight? Well, it was a Kickstarter campaign put forward on March 14, 2013 by a team calling themselves Yacht Club Games. It promised to be a pixelated platformer, using chiptune music, pixel things, and a philosophy calling back to the golden days of the NES. Now, I wasn’t really around during that heyday, so I had no nostalgic ties to this game. But it looked pretty good, and Dtoid pointed the game out to me to it so I decided to back it. And damn am I happy that I decided to do ...

Who is the Deadliest Pokemon?

Gotta Catch em’ All! (Or they’ll kill you) Before you watch the video, try and guess who you think it is? It isn’t super hard to come up with reasons why they are wrong. That said I loved this little thought experiment. I’m going to slightly spoil it by saying it isn’t Arceus. Now you’ve only got a few hundred other options to choose from. But if I had to pick a pokemon, Arceus probably be my #1. Being god gives you a lot of freedom to be a monster. It looks l...

Civilization VI Patch Live | Dubbed “Fall 2016” Update

Civilization 6 gets even better at consuming your days. You wouldn’t know it by the number of hours I’ve played Civilization 6. But I really like this game. It currently stands as my favorite iteration of a series that started in 1991. Just holy cow! So many series I like have been around for just obscene lengths of time. Anyways, Civ VI is great. I highly recommend you pick it up if you haven’t. The fact that they called this the “Fall 2016” Update has me curious t...

Dishonored: Review

Dishonored first released 4 years ago, in 2012, and was one of the first games I ever wrote a blog review of! It was a terrible blog, as my skillz were not yet at the level they are now and its a pretty rough thing so I decided to do a new review and give my thoughts of the game after binging it after all this time. Dishonored takes place in the city of Dunwall, during a massive plague outbreak spread by vicious man eating rats. You are Corvo, the Lord Protector-basically the bodyguard and husba...

Dishonored 2 gets beta patch for PC issues

Dishonored 2 released last week, and immediately PC gamers noted that the game had severe issues, which is unfortunate to say the least given how excited some people were to give the game a go-yours truly included. Well as of right now, the game has a beta patch out on steam which will hopefully deal with issues that the game is having. Honestly, I’m really excited to tear into this game after a week or so of waiting, but the game coming out in this state is bothersome to me. PC versions o...

Dishonored DLC Review

Dishonored was a game I really enjoyed when it came out in 2012-a stealth using game with a lot of aesthetic style and a pretty enjoyable set up for play. With the sequel coming out at the end of the week, I figured it was time to dive back into the game and over the past few days I have devoured the single player campaign, blowing through the entire thing. I really like it and I find its aged pretty well, and I’ve decided to talk about the DLC-I may redo my Dishonored review later, as it ...
