Darkest Dungeon on Vita Impressions

Darkest Dungeon hits today on Vita and PS4, and its a version of the game I’ve been waiting for since I knew it was on its way months ago. Soon as I remembered that it was a thing, I snapped it up on my vita and gave it a whirl. First things first-the game looks gorgeous on vita’s OLED screen and performs smoothly. I’ve noticed no performance issues whatsoever, and I think if you can take one issue with the visuals its that due to the size of the screen and game stuff the text is somewhat small-if thats a dealbreaker for you, check before you buy. Given the nature of portable speakers, it sounds a little compressed but tis the nature of the beast. Other than that it sounds good, and the musical cues/sounds are pretty solid.

The controls are a little bit cumbersome to get used to but once you do its pretty logical how its set up. I do have one issue I haven’t quite noodled out-switching between characters to look at when you’re simply walking around areas and I need to check to see if corpses and heart attacks are toggable-they are on by default if so. Still so far I’m having a blast, and I would recommend giving it a look if you’ve been considering getting it on vita. I’ll see about a full review when I feel I’ve played enough.
